Michele Shawn Mueller, 61, of Stevens Place, Rocky Hill, CT passed away quietly and unexpectedly at home on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Michele was born in Middletown on July 4, 1964, the only daughter of Nancy Christiansen Mueller and Carl Mueller. Michele was engaged to Eric Krawczyk of Wallingford.
She is survived by her aunts, Jan Ulanowicz (Wade) of Westbrook, and Mia (Morgan) Hills of Old Saybrook, and uncle, Robert Vogt of Clinton; cousins: Nancy (Todd) Siegel, Brian (Katie) Peterson, Aerial Ulanowicz (married to Cole Newberg), Marilyn Ulanowicz, William Patterson (Ali), Jacob Hills, Olivia Hills, Jessica (Dave) Carlson and Trish Murff. She immensly enjoyed the next generation of little cousins. Michele also leaves behind her beloved Haddam Neck Covenant Church family. She is also survived by two half-sisters, Cari Mueller of North Carolina and Tami Mueller of Florida. Michele was God Mother to Olivia Hills and Maya Goddard.
Michele is predeceased by her mother, Nancy C. Mueller, grandparents, Francois and Ida Christiansen, and aunt, Phyllis Christiansen Vogt.
Michele graduated from Rocky Hill Schools. She then attended the University of Connecticut where she earned degrees in both Drama and Education, and adored UCONN sports. She spent many years as a paralegal, followed by a career at Aetna Insurance as a caseworker. Upon her retirement from Aetna, she was employed by Waste Management as a case worker.
Michele was a person with many passions. First and foremost, she loved Jesus, and enthusiastically desired that everyone know that. That love was obvious through her kind ways and the contagious, beaming smile on her face—especially while singing worship music. She was a reliable source of “light” and life for all she met. Michele volunteered at many Christian artist concerts, and also for the organization, “Smooth Jazz for Scholars”. She also loved ushering at the Goodspeed Opera House and Hartford Stage.
She was a devoted member of the Haddam Neck Covenant Church (HNCC) where she served as Worship & Music Ministry chairperson, was a significant part of the HNCC Puppet Ministry, where, in worship services and other community events, she played “Farmer M”, and most notably, “Siegfried”, the stow-away British rat, alongside, “Digger the Dog”, to the total delight of adults and children alike. Michele performed with the HNCC vocal and handbell choirs, and was a marvelous baker of treats for coffee hour.
Anyone who knew Michele, couldn’t miss knowing that another of her passions was “Disney”. Disney anything…family vacations, clothing, characters, music, films. She memorized the lyrics to most of the music. She was proud of her Danish and Irish heritage, and had visited both countries on a trip-of-a lifetime vacation with her mother, Nancy. She shared her talent for knitting and crocheting with many delighted recipients of her creations. Her love for animals was apparent too, especially her cherished brother and sister Siamese cats, Simba and Nala. She also took great delight in spending time with the Ulanowicz family, their dogs, goats and Gypsy Vanner horses, Thorin and Diego, and relished family trips to the Equine Affaire. Her love of cowboy boots was well-known, especially her favorite red ones! But of all Michele’s passions, time spent with her family celebrating birthdays and holidays were among the times she cherished most. Her enthusiasm for life and her gift of expressing her faith made her a gift to many.
Peace to her sweet memory.
