She was born on March 30, 1931, in Chadwick, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas and Blanche Loomis. At the age of 11, she moved to California where she lived with her sister until marrying at the age of 16 and moving to Connecticut.
For over 20 years, Molly worked in the bake shop at Stop and Shop in Clinton and took great pride in the many beautiful cakes she decorated. She was an expert Scrabble player, and usually able to finish any crossword puzzle she set her mind to. She also loved to read, watch old movies, and enjoy the warmth of the summer sunshine from her front porch. While she appreciated fine food, wine and chocolate, we all know her "go to" place was always McDonald's for her very favorite meal (hamburger, small fry and strawberry shake). Her biggest source of pride and joy, however, were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than spending time with those she loved. Her wicked sense of humor and loving presence will be greatly missed by all.
Molly is survived by her four children: Vivian Butler, and her husband Gary of Pleasant Valley, MO; Gary Brainard of Clinton; Larry Brainard and his wife Linda of East Haddam; and Susan Matterazzo and her husband Steven of Portland. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Michael Butler, Danielle Stetson, Rebecca Wright, Alyssa and Tom Matterazzo, and Sabrina, Hannah and Jonathan Brainard; and her five great-grandchildren: Madison, Trace and Samantha Butler; and Samantha and Riley Crotty.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. To sign the online guest book, visit www.swanfh.com.
