He was born October 28, 1926 to the late Roland and Charlotte (Dibble) Gladwin. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Mary Jane (Burr) Gladwin.
Tom was the co-founder of Grove Gardens Florist in 1951 and ran his longstanding local business until his retirement in 2002.
He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy.
Tom was a member of the Clinton Country Club and the Connecticut Nurseryman’s Association.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his association with the Wingdingers. He had a passionate love for the outdoors and gardening and was a dedicated UConn basketball fan.
Tom will be most remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, daughter Kathy Gladwin of Clinton CT, son James Gladwin of Clinton CT, and daughter Judy Plume and her husband Michael of Riverside R.I.
Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by sister Lois Bloom of Clinton CT and leaves a sister Joan Milardo and her husband Edward, of San Diego, CA. He was a loving grandfather to 3 grandchildren, Kevin, Jameson, and Jennifer. He also will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will held Friday, May 31st at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton from 4-7. A memorial service will take place Saturday, June 1st at the United Methodist Church in Clinton at 1:00 in the afternoon.
