William P. Viggiano

William “Bill” Paul Viggiano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, at the age of 83. A cherished figure in the lives of his family and community, Bill’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born on June 15, 1941, in Stamford, Connecticut, Bill was the son of Paul and Katherine (Cerulli) Viggiano. He grew up with a deep appreciation for family and a strong work ethic, values he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1959, Bill joined the Navy where he served until being honorably discharged in 1963. Bill received his BS from Quinnipiac College and followed that with his MBA from the University of New Haven. Bill embarked on a successful career at SNET that spanned over 30 years, retiring as VP of Finance in 1999.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Dolores (Testa) Viggiano; his three children, William Jr, Karen (Michael), and Susan Brown (Richard). His family remembers him as a loving husband, and a supportive father. He coached many teams (swimming, baseball, softball, & basketball). His home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and a sense of adventure, thanks to his infectious zest for life.

Bill’s greatest pride and joy came from his role as a grandfather. He is survived by his four beloved grandchildren, Alexis and Jessica Viggiano, Cameron Brown, and Olivia Ouellette who brought immense happiness to his life. Bill was known for his playful spirit, often found playing kickball, sharing stories from his youth, and attending every school play, basketball, baseball, football and soccer games. His eyes would light up with pride and love whenever he spoke of them.

Bill was an avid sport’s fan cheering on his beloved New York Yankees and UCONN Huskies.

In addition to his family, Bill was an active member of St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation and a dedicated board member of the Harbor View Association in Clinton. His generous spirit and commitment to helping others made a lasting impact on those around him.

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E Main St, Clinton, CT. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Church, 54 Grove St, Clinton, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in Clinton, CT.

Bill’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, his love for his family, and his remarkable ability to make every moment special. Though he will be greatly missed, his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
