

Mr. Calvin Simeon Carson, of Raymond, Mississippi, went home to be with his Creator and Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2013. He was 78 years of age.Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26th at the Clinton Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Services will be held at Parkway Baptist Church at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to services. Graveside Service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Jefferson Community, Carrollton, MS.
Calvin was married to Rose Avene Carson for 58 years. During this time they lived together in Clinton, Greenwood, Carrollton, Jackson, before relocating to Raymond. Calvin was born to the late Curtis Reese and Ruby Vance Carson, on Dec. 25, 1934, in Sardis, Mississippi. Preceding him in death are his parents and two siblings Winston Carson and Dr. Lillie Doty.
He is survived by siblings: Kyle (Brenda) Carson of Jackson, Dorsey (Linda) Carson of Tylertown, Judy Carson of Tacoma, Washington. Along with his four children: Cindy (David) Fish of Madison, Karen (Jeff ) King of Raymond, Sharon (Gary) Ward of Madison, Chandra Carson of Canton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeremy (Claire) Ward of Hattiesburg, Maghen (Mark) Lee of Clinton, Carson Fish of Madison and Brandon Fish of Madison. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Swayze Jane Lee, and John Preston Ward.
Calvin graduated from Winona High School and later received a BA from Mississippi College in Clinton. Calvin was a public servant of the State of Mississippi, until he retired in 2001. His many years of service included the Office of the Secretary of State, as an assistant to Heber Ladner, Recorder of Documents for the Library Commission, Assistant Director of the Department of Welfare and Human Services, and Director of Hinds County Permit and Zoning.
Calvin was a long time member of Parkway Baptist Church of Clinton where he enjoyed being a part of the senior adult choir. He enjoyed going on mission trips to Christian Education Foundation (CEF). He also served as a deacon at West Jackson Baptist Church for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Winona Masonic Lodge. Calvin had a love for art, music, and model trains, but one of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed and lived each day to the fullest, which in turn gave him many stories and memories to share with others.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Parkway Baptist Church Family Fund.
