Lester Thorne Jones

Mr. Lester Thorne Jones, 85, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at The G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM today at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with visitation from 9:00-11:00 AM today at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM today at Palmer Cemetery in Hesterville, MS.

A retired truck driver, Jones was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was preceded in death by his son, William Allen Jones and by his wife, Dovie Virginia Jones. He is survived by his sons, David Jones of Clinton, Greg Jones (Cammy) of Little Rock, AR, and Jeff Jones (Christie) of Franklin, TN; daughter, Linda Covington of Clinton; and sisters, Mildred McDonald of Meridian and Mary Lou Malone of Memphis, TN. Mr. Jones is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
