

M.H. “Nick” Nichols, 87, died Saturday July 28, 2012 at the Veterans Hospital in Jackson. A celebration of his life will be 11:00am Tuesday July 31, 2012 at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton. The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm Monday and 10:30am Tuesday at the church. Graveside services will be 3:00pm Tuesday at the MS Veterans Cemetery in Newton, MS.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, M.L. and Beulah Nichols, five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Edwina Barr Nichols; son, Robin D. Nichols (Jane); daughters, Cherri Tunstall (Charlie) and Tina Smith (Kevin); 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; and a host of family and friends.
Nick enjoyed working in his garden. He was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church and served as an Army staff sergeant participating in the invasion at Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944 during WWII. Nick touched the lives of everyone he came in touch with.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Morrison Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, Alzheimer’s Foundtion of America, Arthrits Foundation, or Gideon’s International.
The family expresses appreciation to Rosie Baggett, his caregiver, and to the Veteran’s Hospital for many years of medical service.
