I just now saw this 8 years after the fact. I am so sorry for your loss. We were neighbors in Taylor. I remember his racing pigeons.

Sadly too late, I've tried to re-connect.... to tell my "pigeon buddy" my daughter had married Chad Ludwig... in Billings, MT. I now have 2 little Ludwig grandchildren. 
    For a few years, 1990-93, our clubs in Billings and Cody, WY  sponsored the "Lewis and Clark Journey 300" race, and Arnhold was a regular entrant. 
     On one occasion, he "borrowed and road-tested"  a new GMC pickup for a Montana hunting trip, interrupted by the truck rolling down a mountain ..... sideways . No one was hurt, and he nursed the broken truck back home.
       I enjoyed knowing Arnhold, and I know that he is now in that, "Premier Racing Club in the Sky".  I hope he'll save me a small loft, somewhere up there.

Our cranktrain group will certainly miss Arnhold, who was the rotating tech specialist (crankshafts, torsional dampers, flywheels, balance shafts) for many years. I remember his many stories about his hunting and fishing adventures in  remote places and also pigeon breeding & racing. 

Arnhold will be missed. He reminds me a little of the two older men in Secondhand Lions - he certainly lived life to the full! An adventurer and a top-notch engineer.

Our condolences and prayers for his family as  you remember a dear family member. May God give you His comfort and peace as you grieve his loss.

Arnie, was one of my best friends who I met at General Motors Institute.  He was a special person who knew engines
"globally".  We worked together on designs and trouble shooting problems.  Our friendship span 50 years- Arnie was a fun loving guy who will be dearly missed.  

It was joy to work with Arnhold. He was brilliant, generous and kind. He will be in our hearts and memories.

I knew Arnold from our school years, but loss touch when he went to GMI. Later,after leaving the military I joined the Germania Club and worked with his parents for many years until I moved to Georgia. Arnold and his family were special people and he will be missed----

Arnhold's passions were engineering, hunting and pigeon flying. If you were fortunate enough to have hunted with him as I had starting in junior high over 50 years ago you would immediately be drawn to his 
determination, intelligence and communication skills. My dear friend with his family and my family experienced many exciting hunting adventures, some successful some not but always memorable and cherished to this day. My condolences in their time of sorrow to the family of one of the most unique intelligent and best friends I ever had.

Will miss this wonderful man.  Like so many that worked with Arnold at GM, we knew him as a great engineer and friend, who loved his work, his family, and his hobbies.  His lifes adventures are still told all these years later by many of us - his life has put a smile on our faces and we are better because we knew Arnold.   We send our love to his family and friends.  Bless you all

I met Arnhold in 1984 when I joined Pontiac Motor Divison. Not only was Arnhold an extremely knowledgeable and good engineer, he also was great fun to travel with. I travelled to Brazil twice with Arnhold on business. He not only knew of some of the best  restaurants to eat at but also knew of all the places to visit in the evenings and during the weekend in Rio de Janiero and San Paulo. I always thoroughly enjoyed Arnhold's pigeon stories and on how he trained his pigeons for various races. To this day, I recount those stories to my friends and they enjoy them.

Arnhold was a valuable member of our big block engine group at GM in the 90's.In addition to his technical contributions, he made us look forward to lunch time where he would regal us with his stories of pigeon racing and sometimes a deer blind tale. It was great to have worked with you Arnhold. I'm looking forward to our next conversation on how you revised the heavenly sport of pigeons carrying crankshafts.

Arnold was one of the very best Product Engineers for General Motors and was always a pleasure to work with. I pray that God's power and presence fill his family and loved ones at this time and going forward.

I worked with Arnhold at General Motors.  He was a very creative and intelligent person.  He was also kind and generous with advice and assistance. I am sorry the good Lord took him at such an early age.  He is now in a better place with our saviour, Jesus......Lou Oniga
