To this day, I still have a precious gift Mrs. McKernan had given me back in March 1983. I could never get rid of the beautiful ceramic Garfield piggy bank that she had made for me when I was a very sick little boy. Garfield was my favorite, somehow she knew that. That bank had meant so much to me, and to this day, still does. I will never forget that sweet southern accent, the oranges she would cut up and give us during soccer games, or the time Chad rented a “National Geographic” video that Mrs. McKernan found rather appalling! Such a sweet lady, I’m sorry for the loss the family must endure.
