I knew Bert when I had a cottage in Canadian Lakes and we kept in touch even after I sold the place. We had both lost our spouses, so we had that in common. However, I was still working, in Grand Rapids, so in recent years, we only communicated at Christmas, and It was obvious how proud he was of his girls and the grand kids. He was such a family man! My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of their loss of their father. I truely will miss Bert alot . He was so careing and loving and truely loved his children and grandchildren. I will miss the calls that helped me thru the days and vise versa. I am sad but I do know he is in a better place and has no more pain. We will meet again

I was so looking forward to seeing Bert at our 60th class reunion this year. He was my date for the Senior Prom in 1953. The family is in my prayers.

I've known Bert almost my entire life. He was our paperboy when I lived in Mt. Clemens, almost 60 years ago!  Gary and I met Joan when we moved to Barclay Estates and were great friends with them both. We watched the girls grow up to be great adults and still remember feeding "Punky" when they went on vacation. Bert was a giving person and would do anything for you. I'll miss his newsletters every Christmas. I still miss Joan and will now add Bert to my prayers. Carol and Gary Blossey

I personally enjoyed having the opportunity to meet Bert and his girls, and will always remember Bert as a fun loving, proud grandpa, and great "Michigan" fan.
