Elizabeth Jane (Betty) Taormina, age 92 of Clinton Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness on August 15, 2026. She was born on February 12, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her nickname was Betty Boop. She found immense joy in reading, traveling, cooking and playing games such as Euchre, Pinochle, Daily Solitaire Challenge and Words with Friends. Additionally, she loved her summers in Caseville where she was always surrounded by family and friends. Betty’s world revolved around her family. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to attend her children or grandchildren’s sporting and school events, their graduations and she always was their number one supporter.
She moved into Pine Ridge Independent Senior Living less than 2 years ago where she met and connected with wonderful new friends. Her friends called themselves the “giggling grannies” where they would enjoy meals together and laugh the entire time. She was well-loved there and truly enjoyed the worry-free lifestyle. She went to exercise class 5 days a week, enjoyed the outings along with the many activities that were offered. Everyone at Pine Ridge will truly miss Betty.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and Assumption Grotto Church for many years.
Betty is survived by 6 sons and 1 daughter: Peter (Lisa) Taormina, Garrett (Paula) Taormina, David (Sheila) Taormina, Cindy (Phil Isgro) Taormina, Angelo (Susan) Taormina, Michael Taormina and Joe (Kristy) Taormina. Grandchildren: Matt (Katie), Chris, Jonathan (Emily), Anthony (Tala), Justin, Josh (Leeda), Connor (Sierra), Nicole (Josh), Kyle, Jena and Jade. Great grandchildren: Kane and Miles. Siblings: Jim O’Connor and Frank (Bernie) O’Connor. Betty also cherished her relationships with nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends of her children and grandchildren. Her family and extended family will miss her dearly.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Peter Taormina, along with her parents, Theodore and Cynthia O’Connor, sister, Rosie Eichhorn, and brothers, Chuck O’Connor and Joe O’Connor.
We find comfort in knowing that Betty’s legacy lives on through the impact she brought to everyone, the unconditional love she shared and the memories that will never be forgotten. Her presence was a gift, and her absence leaves a profound void. Betty will be deeply missed but her light will never truly fade from our world.
