Beverly J. Moseley, 96, of Chesterfield Twp, MI and former resident of Harper Woods, MI passed away peacefully at the Village of East Harbor Assisted Living and Nursing Care, Chesterfield Twp, MI. Beverly was married to Curtis J. for 75 years, and they celebrated that fete with their immediate family on June 15, 2023. They are the proud parents of 5 boys James C /Diana Lee Moseley, formerly of Troy, MI; Gregory S/Katherine Moseley, Troy MI; Michael J/Denise Moseley, Harper Woods, MI; John K/Marla Moseley, Sterling Heights, MI, and Dale P (Patrick)/ Suzanne Moseley, Macomb, MI. Proud grandparents of 11 and great grandparents of 23. Beverly was the only child to Samuel Z. and Della L. Smith of Viola, IL. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis J., her parents Samuel Z. and Della L Smith, son James C Moseley, son John K. Moseley, and grandson Michael Jay Moseley. Beverly was born in Rock Island, IL and grew up in a small farming community in Viola, IL. She met her husband, Curtis, in high school and they were married on June 15, 1948. Beverly was valedictorian of her high school class, attended beauty school, and was proudly a great and loving homemaker.
Beverly enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting and was actively involved in her children’s academics and sporting endeavors, especially when Curtis was traveling for work. She certainly had her hands full with 5 boys only 11 years apart in ages. Trips back to her hometown roots in Illinois were truly an exciting part of the Moseley tradition, on an annual basis.
Beverly and Curtis enjoyed camping with their 5 boys during the summer months, traveling to many midwestern locations and throughout Michigan. They were also members of the Coachmen Caravan Michigan Chapter. Upon their retirement, Beverly and Curtis enjoyed spending 26 winters in Florida. When returning home in the spring, Beverly and Curtis loved spending quality time with the boys, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. While in Harper Woods, they were members of St. Peters Catholic Church and St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, Eastpointe, MI. Beverly was very active in the Altar Society at St. Peters, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society.
During her residency in Harper Woods, Beverly was greatly respected by neighbors and community. Reminiscing with them today, Beverly was a motherly figure to many, valued and trusted as a true companion and mentor with a heart of gold. She maintained a meticulous yard and landscaping, especially the floral retaining wall with flowers near the boulevard.
So many memories, treasured moments and accomplishments during her life. She always gave 100% whether it be as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, neighbor or in her everyday endeavors. She was loved by all, cherished by many, and looked upon as one to emulate. Beverly will be greatly missed but never forgotten. The passing of her husband, Curtis, was devastating – shortly after celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary in 2023. She was also greatly saddened by the passing of her eldest son, Jim, in 2022; by the passing of her second youngest son, John, in 2024, and her eldest grandchild, Mikey, in 1999. We know Beverly is now in heaven and at peace, and has joined her husband, Curtis, sons Jim and John, and grandson Mikey, and her parents (Samuel Z. and Della L.) in everlasting glory in Heaven.
Visitation will take place on Sunday June 7, 2026, 1:00-2:00 PM for immediate family, and 2:00-7:00 PM at the Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Rd, just south of 18 Mile Rd., Clinton Township, MI, 48038. A rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. Funeral services will held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Resurrection Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, with the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, MI.
