Carl Maynard Oxley, age 77, passed away on October 17, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Suzanne, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years, and the loving father of the late Charlotte Oxley. He was the dear brother of Walter (the late Nancy Jo) Oxley, and Patricia (the late Robert) Denault. Carl was a cherished uncle to Susan Oxley, Walter Oxley III, Brenda (Patrick) Canestrelli, Jonathan Oxley, and Megan (Ryan) Smith. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carl had a lifelong passion for cars, a hobby that brought him countless memories, accomplishments, and friendships over the years. He was especially proud of his collection, which included a 2022 California Special Mustang convertible, a 1971 Torino that belonged to his beloved wife, Suzanne, and his prized 1998 Cobra Mustang SVT, affectionately known as “The Outcast.” In his younger years, Carl enjoyed drag racing, spending many memorable days at Detroit Dragway before turning his attention to showing his cars. He proudly displayed “The Outcast” at the Cobo Hall Autorama and earned numerous trophies throughout the years, a testament to his dedication and love for the automotive world.
Later in life, Carl developed a passion for collecting Schwinn bicycles, taking pride in keeping them in pristine condition. His collection was another reflection of his appreciation for classic style and craftsmanship. Among his bicycles was one that perfectly matched his yellow Mustang, combining two of his favorite interests.
Carl will be remembered for his enthusiasm for his hobbies, the pride he took in his collections, and the many memories he created along the way. His love for cars was a defining part of who he was, and his treasured collections will serve as a lasting reminder of the things that brought him joy. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
