He was the husband of Graciela (Grace) a few days short of 39 years. They split their time between New Mexico where Grace’s family lives and his home state, Michigan where his family lives.
He was predeceased by his first wife Loretta of almost 25 years. Father to David Sampson, Deanna (Jim) Goerlich, Delphine (Don) Warbington, Carl (Lori) Sampson, Darcy (Chris) Michael and Dolores (Jim) Martin. He was Grandfather to 21 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sue Sampson, brother Ed Sampson, and many beloved in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Caroline Sampson, as well as siblings, Raymond Sampson, Ernie Sampson, Richard Sampson, Leone Rettko, Carol Hinshaw, and Wally Sampson.
He began his work life as a butcher at Stahl’s Market in Mt. Clemens which he considered his favorite of all the jobs he held. He then moved to a building supply company. After the death of his wife Loretta, he accepted a job working in the automotive industry. His assignment took him to El Paso, Texas, where he met Grace and they married shortly thereafter. He went back to the building service industry as a representative for a cabinet company, which he retired from.
Early in his life he enjoyed softball and was a very good bowler. He was passionate about duck hunting and with his brother kept and bred duck dogs. He loved walleye fishing with his sons. He was an avid golfer which he enjoyed with his wife Grace and many close friends. He served as a ranger on his favorite golf course in El Paso, Texas.
He was dearly loved by all of his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A time of visitation will take place on December 11 from 3 pm until 8 pm with a memory share to be held at 4:00 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A private burial to follow.
A burial for Carl will held privately with his immediate family.
