Chance Andrew Cyphers, 37, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away on February 23, 2026. Born September 14, 1988, Chance will be remembered as a loyal, steadfast, and devoted son, friend, and companion whose presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Chance graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Computer Science. In high school, he was honored as homecoming king, a reflection of the warmth and connection he brought to the people around him. For many years when he was younger, he also worked as a bartender and waiter.
A man of wide-ranging interests, Chance loved collecting books and exploring philosophy. He enjoyed music and even played in a band. Chance found joy in fantasy novels, games, and long nature walks. He also deeply loved his adored Alaskan Klee Kai dog, Lopen, who held a special place in his life.
Chance is survived by his parents: Jenny (Gary) and Brad (Kelly); siblings: Katy, Anthony (Caitlyn), Brittany (Corey), Brandon (Kylie), and Shauna (Jose); 8 nieces and nephews; grandparents, Glenda and John; and aunts and uncles: Sarah (preceded by Jeremy) and their children: Jessica, Austin, and Levi; Jodi (Leo) and their child, Abbie; Melissa (Jason) and their children: Elliette, Aela, and Iris; and Brian and his child, Jordan.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Cheryl and Bill; and uncle, Jeremy.
Visitation will be held at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48035, on February 28, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 1pm, with a visitation prior at 11:30am, at Kaul Funeral Home.
