He was born in Macomb on July 28, 1934 to Walter and Agnes (Renusch) Strong. He graduated from Mt. Clemens High School and then served in the United States Army in Korea.
Upon returning home from the military he met his then future wife Kathryn Mokanyk. They married on February 20, 1960. They were married for 40 years before she passed away in September of 2000.
Charlie loved to hunt, fish, garden, and play baseball, softball and golf. In his younger days he also liked to go camping and ride snowmobiles.
Charles is survived by his 3 children: Edward Strong (Denise), Lorie Strong, and Pamela Kathryn; 3 grandchildren: Jessica Strong (Greg), Aidan Moriarty (Bridget) and Emily Moriarty; 2 great-grandchildren: Harrison and Madison Myslinski; sister Jean Johns (Richard); as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; parents, Walter and Agnes; and siblings, Robert, Donald, Dorothy, Evelyn, Gloria, Thomas, James and Shirley.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 2-8 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan. A brief visitation will continue on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10 AM until time of the funeral service at 12 PM, also at Resurrection Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest privately at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, with his late wife Kathryn.
