Charles Ray Taylor Jr. passed away on June 4, 2023 at the age of 86. He was the loving husband of Trish Taylor for 63 years. The beloved father of Ray (Pattijo), Paul (Marina), and Mark. The cherished grandfather of Mitchell Taylor, Shannon (Josh) Derr, Danielle Jim, Patrick (Lauren) Taylor, Angeline Taylor, Shane (Kate) Taylor and Philip (Ariel) Taylor, Jenna Shaffer, Rossman (Shelby) Shaffer, Alec Shaffer, Esther (Jared) Benoit, Sarah (Justin) Johnson, Clayton (CallyAnne) Scott. The dear great grandfather of Lilly, Sam, Jace, Ellis, Solomon, Paisley, Dalton, Hazel, John, Pashi, Zariah, Nyah, Calvin and Clyde. The caring brother of Peggy (Steve) Sheiko and brother-in-law of the late Patrick (the late Diane) Johnson, the late Tom (the late Joanne) (Barbara) Johnson, the late Grace (the late Ron) Green, the late Norm (Carolyn) Johnson, Mary Ann (the late Jim) Pfeifer, and Kathleen (Larry) LaTarte.
Ray attended the University of Michigan, received a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from General Motors Institute and a Masters of Business Administration from Wayne State University. He had a very successful career at General Motors serving as a quality control engineer and manager. He was a deeply spiritual man and an active member of St. Thecla’s Parish in Clinton Township where he served as a lector for many years and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He also served as a leader in the Light of World Prayer group for many years.
A Lake Orion native, Ray was predeceased by his parents, Charles Ray and Angeline Taylor and his in-laws, Thomas and Ada Johnson. Ray was upbeat and quick with a joke. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed doing crosswords and other puzzles. He also enjoyed Detroit sports, especially the Tigers. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who will dearly miss him.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 2:30 until 8:00 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A Rosary service will begin at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Thecla Catholic Church, 20740 S Nunneley Road in Clinton Township. Friends may visit the church on Thursday beginning at 9:30am.
