Connie G. Helpman was born in Flint, Michigan in 1950, the daughter of Wayne and Ruth Rachwitz and sibling of Greg and Charles. As the years passed, she became proud mother of Shannon Pokowski (O’Connell) and Craig O'Connell and grandmother to Collin O'Connell, Alana Pokowski, and Brianna O’Connell.
In 1984, Connie met and married the love of her life, David, whose sons are: David Jr. Helpman, married to Laura, and their children: Katerina, Anya, Dimitri, and Brandon Helpman; and Jeff Helpman, married to Jodi, and their children: Mazie, Canon, Roby, and Rio Helpman.
Connie graduated from high school from Southfield High in 1968. She finished a few years of community college. Over the years, Connie led several management positions, retiring as a payroll supervisor at ABS Insurance in 2010.
Connie accepted Jesus Christ, her savior, in August 1984. Throughout the years, Connie faithfully attended Faith Baptist and served as Sunday School teacher for middle school girls.
In retirement, Connie and Dave enjoyed spending time in Lexington, Michigan with family and friends. Connie loved to lavish love and attention on her grandkids. Connie was extremely welcoming to others and socially exhausted herself to always make sure everyone was thought of and remembered. She showed her love by putting herself out there for others and performing acts of service - the "pet" Ladybug rocks are all over Lexington RV Park.
She especially had a soft spot for soldiers - as her husband Dave retired from the military after over 30 years of service. Connie made hundreds of cards and packages for active military soldiers.
She was also generous with her time and was passionate about giving to others!
She will be remembered fondly and with love by all those who encountered her in life.
A memorial gathering for Connie will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 from 10am to 12pm with a memorial service at 12pm and light luncheon at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Ave., Clinton Township, Michigan.
