David L. DeCoster, age 66, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed peacefully on February 16, 2019. He was surrounded by family and friends in his final days after a 2+ year battle with cancer. He is the beloved husband of 43 years to Korlyn; Loving father of Jennifer (Anthony) Kulick, Deanna, and Brian (Stacey); Cherished grandfather of Charlotte, as well as grandson who is soon to arrive, and a granddaughter due in July. David was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 8, 1953.
Throughout his career, he worked with The Detroit Fire Department and The Department of Public Works in Harper Woods, and greatly valued the friendships he made there.
In his retirement, David enjoyed spending time at “The Shop” building race cars, being a silly Papa to his granddaughter, and continuing a lifelong hobby of building model cars. He enjoyed simple pleasures of mowing his lawn, backyard bird-watching, and a good football game on a Saturday afternoon. Go Blue!
