Born on August 12th, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, Dolores was affectionately known as “Dee” and the daughter of Irene Rodgers. Dee proudly graduated from St. Anne’s High School in Detroit, married her high school sweetheart Tom, and went on to work with special needs children for over 30 years at Bovenschen School in Warren, Michigan.
Dee was known for her genuine kindness, deep love, and wonderful sense of humor. She loved unselfishly, always ready to help those around her, and was an unmatched pillar of strength for her friends and family. She quickly became a source of comfort, laughter, and lasting memories for anyone lucky to spend time with her.
Dee loved her work, often fondly referring to her “other kids”, spending decades at the same school and touching so many lives. Dee also loved seeing her own children and grandchildren grow. Even in her retirement, there were many shuttles to school, afternoons with grandma, and weekend trips to the casino.
She lived her life to the fullest, making the best of everything it had to offer and any challenges it presented. Dee will be remembered for her selfless love and the brightness she shared with anyone that needed it. She was a rock for her family, providing quiet resolve for so many years.
She is survived by her children: Tommy (Christine), Nicki (Tony), and David (Brittany); and grandchildren: Lindsay, Emily, and Natalie. Dee was preceded in death by her husband Tom, daughter Renae, and brother Jim.
