Denny was born on June 26, 1950, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to his loving parents, Isadore Rosario and Marie Claire Marcelle (Boisclair) Demers. Before he was a year old, his family moved to Detroit and later settled in St. Clair Shores, where he was raised. He attended St. Lucy Catholic Elementary School and graduated from South Lake High School. Denny went on to earn his Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Macomb Community College.
Following his education, Denny built a long and hardworking career as a machinist, proudly helping manufacture auto parts for the big three automotive companies. He spent many dedicated years working for Anderson-Cook before retiring at the age of 67. Retirement brought him precious time with his beloved wife until her passing.
On December 22, 1984, Denny married the love of his life, Karen Kristine (Wensley), at the Church of Today in Warren. Together they shared nearly 37 wonderful years of marriage and raised four beloved children. Denny was deeply devoted to his family and especially loved teaching and coaching his children in sports while they were growing up. During Karen’s final illness, he lovingly cared for her with unwavering compassion and devotion.
In his younger years, Denny was an accomplished athlete. In high school he played football, baseball, and soccer, and later earned a track and field scholarship to Macomb Community College. His love for sports and staying active continued throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, playing frisbee, camping, taking nature walks, especially along the railroad tracks, and fixing things around the house.
Denny was also incredibly creative, imaginative, and musical. He handcrafted guitars from wood and taught himself to play them, often carrying guitar picks in his pocket wherever he went. His favorite music was classic rock, especially legendary guitar-driven bands and artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Rush, The Who, The Police and Santana, along with many others. He also loved science fiction, aliens, conspiracy theories, and reading, and he could always be counted on for an interesting conversation and a unique perspective on life. Denny had a great sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
A gentle and compassionate soul, Denny loved animals deeply, especially his beloved cat, Dusty. Additionally, he enjoyed feeding squirrels and other wildlife outside his home and cared deeply for all living things. He also loved cooking and trying all kinds of foods. Above all else, Denny cherished his family. He will be remembered as a caring, generous, giving, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who carried his Christian faith throughout his life.
Denny is survived by his loving children, Daniel Demers, Andrew (Julie) Demers, Jeffrey Demers, and Kristina Demers; his nine adoring grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Dina, Grace, Sargent, Thomas, Brenden, Lucas, and Kaylani; and his dear siblings, Ronald (Sandy) Demers, Betty (Marty) Jablonski, and Marie Demers.
