Dolores was born on April 14, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Mary Bates. She was preceded in death by her husband, William. They were married for 57 years. She is survived by her daughters Cindy O’Malley and Carol Lowe (Jeff). Dolores has 5 grandchildren; Jeffery (Katie), Michael (Alexys), Kevin (Marissa), Colleen and Stephanie. She has two great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Vivienne.
Dolores graduated from Southeastern High School and went on to Comptometer School. She got her first job at the Budd Company. She spent time as a Kelly Girl assigned to General Motors, worked for the City of St. Clair Shores, and retired from her last job at Roy O’Brien Ford in St. Clair Shores. Dolores spent the majority of her life living in St. Clair Shores where she raised her family. After retirement, she moved to Clinton Township, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to activities at the Clinton Township Senior Center and was a member of Topps of Roseville.
Most of all, Dolores was a “great” grandma, she loved her grandchildren Jeffery, Michael and Kevin more than anything in the world. She spent many hours babysitting when they were young, going on outings, playing games, attending their sporting events, and band concerts. There was never an occasion she would say no to.
She had a love for dogs. During her lifetime she rescued shelter dogs and saw to it that they were loved and well cared for.
