Loving daughter, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend, Dolores was born on the 4th of July. As a child she thought the fireworks were for her and everyone who grew to know her agreed! She could light up a room with a smile and her laughter was contagious. She was generous and welcoming to everyone and her friends were friends for life.
Dolores grew up in Detroit and was a devout Catholic, attending church and using her “offering” envelopes” religiously, throughout her life. She was a regular contributor to any group that sheltered animals and was devoted to her cherished Border Collie, Tucky (rescued while on a trip to Kentucky) and KC her cat.
While working as a secretary at GM and transcriptionist for Kitch Attorneys, Dolores became a master at wordsmithing! She loved the book “Eats, Shoots & Leaves,” was a grammar queen, avid reader and expert at crossword puzzles, scrabble, and trivia! The only thing she was more passionate about was going to the movies!
For as long as she was able, almost every week, she went to the “show.” Robert Redford and Paul Newman were her early all-time favorites; she would cry every time she watched “The Way We Were.” Later, her taste turned to vampires and the Twilight Saga! She read every book and watched every movie. Most recently, the cheesy Hallmark rom coms kept her and her friends entertained at the Village of East Harbor where she will be truly missed.
Dolores is survived by her children, Sherry Grammatico, Mike (Fran) Manikowski, grandson, Scott Grammatico Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazen Hartman, and Thelma Longe; her stepdad, John Wilson.
A Memorial Visitation for Dolores will be November 3rd from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A Memorial Service at 5:00 pm at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48035. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal shelter or rescue of choice.
