BELOVED

Those who touch our lives
Remain in our mind's archives.

Some impress
More than others.
Donna Nichols was one of those.

She was a Mother,
First and foremost,
A devoted wife,
She was a Grandma, adored,
A sister and an aunt.

She was a gifted seamstress
Though she used no machine,
Her talented hands
Could stitch a seam.
She loved to cook,
She was a baker, unmatched.

The things that stand out in my mind's achieve...

I remember...
The first time I ever met her,
I was seventeen.
Her laughter was infectious.
She loved to laugh.
I loved that about her right away
I remember that always
Until this day.

When her Grandkids arrived
Her childlike nature came back.
She engaged them like no one else could,
With games and laughter,
Then, like a song bird she'd sing.

Her love of song
Was with her until the end it seems.
As I remember at her one hundredth birthday,,,
How she came to life,
As she joined her family in song
The Happy Birthday refrain,
She sang back to us,
Not knowing it was her own.

Fortunate she was in life,
Though we were the ones
Who were fortunate to have known,
Her sweet gentle nature,
Her laughter,
Her generosity,
Her beautiful smile,
That she graced us with
For all her while.

God Bless You Always And Forever, Dear One.

Mikki
