Liz was born in Detroit on October 29, 1932, the youngest of four children raised in a modest home. Her parents and two older siblings, Jim and Jenny, had immigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland. She attended Southeastern High School and worked as a secretary at General Motors, then for more than 20 years for Detroit Public Schools, retiring in 1988. In 1952 she married Don Morris, and they shared nearly 60 years together raising three children.
A redheaded beauty, Liz loved to sing, performing in church choirs and various singing troupes through the years. She had a competitive spirit and enjoyed bowling and playing cards until the end of her life. An avid sports fan, she loved cheering on the Tigers and the Spartans. She was a lover of dogs, and she and Don were never without one.
Summers were spent at her beloved Eagle's Nest, a wee cottage in Southampton, Ontario, which she and Don owned and enjoyed for over fifty years.
Remaining to cherish Elizabeth's memory are her children Donald Morris Jr. (Robin Krause Morris), Elizabeth (Morris) Marx (Joseph Marx), and Jennifer (Morris) Dowd (Kevin Dowd); her five grandchildren Bradley Dowd (Monica Kegley Dowd), Kaitlyn Marx (Jeremy Schulze), Andrew Dowd (Emily Cozart Dowd), Whitney Marx, and Laura (Morris) O'Brien (Jamie O'Brien); and five great-grandchildren Max Schulze, Waylon Dowd, Amelia Dowd, Wesson Dowd, and Elliott Dowd.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Morris; her brother, James Irvine; and her sisters, Janet (Irvine) Hodge and Catherine (Irvine) Crawford.
Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township. Lunch will be provided immediately afterward.
