To Florence Miarka, the entire world was a stage. An expressive, optimistic, and uninhibited individual, she was a performer in the theater of life. Florence really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.
Florence was born on June 30, 1938 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Her parents were Pasquale (Pete) and Domanica (Minnie) Stronati. Florence was raised in Detroit, Michigan. Even as a child, Florence had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around her. She was raised to be warm, caring and friendly. She couldn’t help but capture everyone’s Always a good playmate, Florence was easygoing and fun loving. Due to a generous dose of common sense, Florence managed to find a satisfying solution to basic problems. Florence was raised with Two siblings. She had an older brother, Ed and a younger sister, Grace.
Florence graduated from St. Phillips High School in 1956. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. Her favorite class in high school was English. She took part in the High school Senior Play.
While growing up, some of her best friends were Josephine Erace and Betty Grimaudo. Florence loved sharing life and having her home filled with people she knew.
On June 24, 1961 Florence exchanged wedding vows with Thaddeus James Miarka at St. Matthews Catholic Church of Detroit, Michigan. She tried hard not to impose on her spouse. She was always sensitive to other people’s feelings, and that was especially true in marriage.
Florence was blessed with four children, one son James and three daughters Susan, Denise, and Julie. They were also blessed with five grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas Victoria Thomas, and Emily. Florence had the ability to focus her attention on the present moment. If she was spending time with the kids, that’s where all of her attention was directed.
Florence enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were crossword puzzles, video games, and reading. Florence was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Vested with a deep concern for spiritual development, Florence recognized that her faith was important to her throughout her life. She was a member of St. Thelca for 36 years then Ss. Cyril and Methodius for 3 years.
Her favorite vacations included Disney World in Florida.
Florence was a lover of animals and cherished her pets, enjoying them almost as much as she enjoyed being around other people. One of Florence's favorites was Magie, a toy poodle. They were best friends for 9 years. Her family was rounded out by her parakeet, 4 dogs, Cleo, Holly, Giselle, and Lepshin.
Florence passed away on February 21, 2011 at her home in Clinton Township, Michigan. She is survived by husband Thaddeus, children Susan (George) Papagni, James, Denise (Matthew) Meagher, and Julie (Steve) Ottoy. Grandchildren Samantha, Nicholas, Victoria, Thomas, and Emily. Her brother and sister, Edward, and Grace (Jerry). and her aunt Mary Petroni. Services were held at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Florence was laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
Florence Miarka lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. She will be remembered with a smile.attention.
