Gary Baumgarth passed away on November 7, 2025 at the age of 77. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Ford and Joanne Baumgarth. Gary was the dear brother of the late Judy (Chuck) Black, and the caring uncle of Ryan and Trevor. He is also survived by numerous cousins who will miss him dearly.
A lifelong lover of good food and good company, Gary worked as a chef and found great joy in cooking for others. He was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan and a dedicated goalie in his adult hockey league at the Grosse Pointe Community Rink, where he made many lasting friendships.
Gary was also a true 50s and 60s rock ’n’ roll enthusiast, known for his vast knowledge of the era’s music and artists. He enjoyed sharing that passion by joining a friend on a local radio show to talk about rock ’n’ roll history — a pastime that brought him much happiness and connection.
Gary will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the many ways he shared his passions with those around him.
Visitation will be held at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township, on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Friends may visit on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 am.
