Born in Palermo, Italy, to the late Vito and Caterina Serra, Gaspare built his life on the values of hard work, dedication, and devotion to those he loved. Known for his incredible work ethic, he spent many years working for Chrysler, Tony Cement, and National Precast, earning the respect of his coworkers through his reliability and commitment.
On May 24, 1975, in Terrasini, Italy, Gaspare married the love of his life, Anna. Together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage, creating a life centered on love, faith, and family. Their enduring partnership was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Above all else, Gaspare cherished his family. Whether gathering around the table, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying one another’s company, he found his greatest joy in the time spent with those he loved. He was a devoted husband, a proud father of three daughters, a treasured grandfather of nine grandsons, and a loving great-grandfather. His wisdom, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on through the generations he helped shape.
Gaspare was also a beloved brother whose kindness, generosity, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by his siblings, extended family, and many dear friends.
Gaspare is survived by his wife Anna; daughters Caterina (Giuseppe) Destasi, Rosa (Filippo) LaCommare and Vita (Nick) Barnhart; grandchildren Antonino (Marina) Destasi, Gaspare (Josephina) Destasi, Alessio, Luca, Francesco, Gaspare, Matteo, Nicholas and Thomas; great grandson Giuseppe Destasi; brothers Giovanni (the late Josephine) Serra and Antonino (Rosalia) Serra.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the memories he created, the values he instilled, and the love he shared will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
In State will be held at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S Nunneley Road in Clinton Township, on August 6, 2026, at 10:30 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am.
