George was born on January 13, 1949, in Ząbkowice Śląskie, Poland to his parents, Jaroslaw and Zofia Klapacz. He spent his early childhood there before moving with his family to the United States at the age of 13 in 1962. He graduated from Hamtramck High School, where he met the love of his life, Anna. The two met when they were just 15 years old, and their relationship grew into a lifelong love. They were married on July 10, 1967, in Detroit.
George and Anna began their life together in Hamtramck and later made homes in St. Clair Shores and Sterling Heights before settling in Clinton Township, where they spent the past 40 years making countless memories together.
During the Vietnam War, George was drafted into the United States Army. His Catholic faith was an important part of his life, providing him with strength and guidance throughout the years.
George worked hard throughout his life to provide for and care for his family. He was a loving and supportive husband and father, and when his grandchildren came along, they quickly became one of his greatest joys.
George enjoyed reading and had a love of collecting. His collections included everything from World War II memorabilia to coins, stamps, and many other interesting treasures. He also enjoyed traveling, and some of his most memorable times were the trips he shared with Anna and his family throughout the United States and Europe.
More than anything, George cherished the people he loved. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna Ford; his daughter, Lisa (Christopher Gallagher) Korzenowski; and his grandchildren, Erica and Jacob Korzenowski.
George was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Ford, and his grandson, Nicholas Korzenowski.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary service at 5:00 PM, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, in-state at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 3100 18 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48314.
George will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
