Sorry to here about Jerry's passing, I was a friend of his from License Plate Collecting.  I always enjoyed his sense of humor, His laugh, and great stories.  He will be missed

We'll never forget Jerry's gentle, free-spirit.  A couple of things we remember about him is the way he could handle a dog. Also, he would dance at a wedding and become one with the music, simply enjoying himself and not caring what anyone else thought.  Even more, he had a love for classic cars like we do which was really special to us.  We were just getting to know him when he was whisked away.  He will be missed!!

I knew him as “Unc,” as did so many others. Unc did so much for so many people in his life. He was a loving husband and father to Diane and Maria, a hero of our nation; he had so much love to go around for everyone it seemed like. I am so proud to have had such a close relationship with my Uncle Jerry. Words simply do not do justice to Unc's dependability, joyfulness, and bravery. Unc was always there for me, taking me to the car shows, the air shows, and sharing with me all of his interests and knowledge. He was always there to crack a joke, never a day in my life I saw him in an unhappy mood, which inspired me. He had been through so much in his life, and was compassionate enough to share with me his stories and experiences. If you had the privilege of knowing such a remarkable man, you were flat out lucky. Unc's memory will always be held in a special place of all of our hearts and never a day will pass without thinking of Unc. I love you.

Koni and I would like to express our deepest sympathy to Diane, Maria and family for the loss of Jerry.  Jerry-O was one in a million, and someone that I will never forget.  He was always upbeat and cheerful, what a fighter he was.  I always enjoyed the stories Jerry-O told.  Jerry was our neighbor in 'beautiful, Lake Havasu City,  Arizona' and I will never be able to walk out my door and look at his house without thinking of him.  I will always be grateful that Jerry built his dream house out here, because I made two friends for life, Jerry and Diane.  We will truly miss Jerry-O.  Sheri and Koni Iida

I met Jerry at the Peachtree tennis club about 6 yrs ago. we were both retired police officers,jerry from Macomb County Sheriff and me from Warren so we we immediately had something in common along with playing tennis.  During the summer one of the highlights of the week was playing tennis at a court near Jerrys home on Fridays and then meeting at Jerrys home in his license plate adorned garage (great collection) for a wine etc party hosted by Jerry and his gracious wife Diane. Jerry always had great detailed stories to relate about many ofhis travels-usually detailed almost to the last blade of grass--I was sometimes telling him to get to the point--we always had a great time.  during the 4 years Jerry had lukemia we would occasionally get together for lunch or a visit to his home with our dog Bella (for a visit for his dog Wellington alias Joey).  during Jerrys fight against this disease and in spite of it Jerry was always cheerfulnand upbeat as he always was before this disease struck him. WE miss Jerry. We wish him a pleasant and adventuressome (as in life) trip in Heaven, free from this disease and where we will all meet someday.  Jerry,thanks for being part of my life.

Diane, Pam and I were so sorry to see Jerry O's passing.  He was a strong man with massive amounts of determination to see it through. He will be missed greatly by friends and family.
I think back of meeting him five years ago while he was building his dream house out here in Havasu. He rode bike, played tennis almost daily.  Then every now and then we would see him puttin down the street in the brown van he cherished so much.
Our relationship grew as he continued on his build and we had many great conversations regarding politics and historical data.  Jerry O's mind remained sharp through his years of medical issues and couldn't be beat.  His knowledge of triva was outstanding and his use of "dirty" words didn't exceed "Fudge."  While putting up his collection of license plates here, his knowledge and recall of the historical data was remarkable. He could tell you when the plate was made, how many were made and other data one would need a computer to recall. License plates were continually arriving in his mail or at the Post Office here. When I would call to let him know of their arrivial he would remark "darn Diane, she keeps ordering those things, I've got to talk to her about it."
Jerry O' became a good friend to both my wife and I while I became a makeshift care-taker for his dream home.  We felt his pain each time he came to visit in his struggle to overcome the forces that were piling up against him daily. At the same time, we found relief in his determination to plod forward without complaint.
As a former Law Enforcement Officer, we shared situational stories of our careers and laughed at our mistakes and those of others. 
Jerry O' was a great man in my eyes and will be sorely missed both as a friend and neighbor.  Rest in Peace Buddy and if you're hanging plates up there, let me know which postal carrier you are using as I have some old California plates I can forward.

Auntie, Maria, Sam, Sergio and Santinio,
First and foremost we want to express our deep sadness for the loss of Unc.  I don't know if I have ever met someone who had the will to live as much as he did.  He was a true inspiration.  The couragious battle he fought over the last four years was unbelievable.  He faced every challenge with a positive attitude and never lost hope.
My earliest recollection of him was his love of his corvette and the need for speed which is the opposite of the man we all new and loved-"Slow O".  Driving 15mph was fast for him.  
After Maria was born, Friday nights at your house was a blast. Unc was always there to play games with me-Monopoly being one of our favorites. My favorite was his trivia questions-he was the Alex Trebbek in my life.
There was always dinner and a movie.  Do you remember when we used to go to Blarby's and call different tables with their phones?
I was also fortunate to go on my vacations with your family. I think my favorite was Niagara Falls. Unc pushed me to do things I was afraid of like The Maid of the Mist and the Aero car ride over the whirlpool.
What I remember most is what defined him. His love of cars, license plates, garage sales, EBAY, The Secretary of State, tennis, bikeriding, darts, trivia, travels, Arizona, The Selfridge Air Show, The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village,Napoleon and Wellington and most of all patience.
I also know he truly loved his family.  Maria, nothing made him more happy than his "Baby!" He was so proud of you and your many accomplishments. After he passed you said he was a lucky man because since his retirement he fullfilled his lifelong goals and dreams. Yes, he was taken to early but how many of us will fullfill our "bucketlist". To see you marry was a great day for all but your dad never stopped smiling. The boys also brought him great joy.
Auntie, you were his CEO. Now thats a compliment. You are my IDOL! You have alway been a devoted wife, mother, aunt and friend.  Your goal in life is to save and help one person at a time. What you gave Unc throughout your marriage and during his illness is aweinspiring. He could not have trusted anyone more than you and the impecable care you gave allowed him to conquer another day.  We love you so much.
He will be greatly missed by all of us but we all have great memories to cherish him and carry in our hearts.

He's the one who taught me how to play tennis and made sure he beat the snot out of me to show me that no matter how old he was, he was better. Thank you for taking the time to map out in detail directions for our many road trips and adventures as teenagers and young adults. Who knows where we would of ended up without you..
  You and Diane were always like my second parents and I cherish the time I have spent with you as a youngster and even more as an adult. I loved when I would come over to go out with Maria and would spend those extra ten minutes with you showing me your latest collection, your newest license plates or whatever your most recent passion was. I am so happy we were able to share with you the woodward dream cruise this past summer. Just one of the many wonderful days with the O'Hallorans.
  Diane, you were an angel by Jerry's side. Your love and care is inspirational.
  Maria, you made your Dad so proud. You are a wonderful family we are so blessed to have in our lives.
