To my good friend Goran "Gary" Ristovski.  Well the NHL playoffs are getting close my friend. I know, like me, you were a big time hockey fan. It looks like an Original Six team is going to be the favorite. Miss you brother. 


He was the drum tech in my first band, my big brother, my coach in all things related to sports and music, and my best friend for 46 years. He always encouraged me and taught me how to perform to the best of my ability. No matter what I was doing he made me believe I could always do better. Goran, and his family's presence in my life, and there encouragement and love over the years has allowed me to become successful in the things that matter to me, and my family, and I'm forever grateful to have such a friend, and family in my life. I met you 16 years ago through my best gal friend ever Donna.  I remember we started talking football immediately and after bantering a little you said..hey girl you know your football.  Thank you for loving my friend the way she deserves to be loved. You were so fun and joyous and always a generous host welcoming everyone into your home. I will miss you my friend and I am blessed to have known you. I look forward to seeing you again in the Kingdom of Heaven.  Love you my friend you are missed already.

I met Goran through his partner Donna back in 2005.  Through Goran I met his awesome nephew Boban. Goran and Lidija introduced me to the beautiful Yugoslavian music and they taught me how to dance to it! Boban and I would hang out at Goran’s place many times and had fun dancing to yugo music until late in the night.  It was always a good time hanging out!  I will miss you Goran and miss dancing with you and the family! Every time I hear yugo music, it reminds me of hanging out with him and the family and dancing our hearts out! He was a great guy to be around!! I will never forget the good times. I Love and miss you! 

To my friend, my teammate, and my brother. Goran (Gary) was a neighborhood boy I meet in 1976 when he moved in next door to me. He and I quickly became good friends and we did everything together until our high school years. We played baseball, football, basketball, soccer and of course hockey. My memory of him will live on forever. He was a kind soul. He loved his mom and dad and his sisters and was one of a kind. There wasn't anything he couldn't do and do well when it came to sports. I taught him how to ice skate when we were 11 years old. As my mom (a Canadian) taught me at the age of 5. Gary sure loved to be on the ice when we were kids and so did I. Went spent many late evenings in the winter skating at Butcher Park down the street from our boyhood homes. and many of summer days playing sandlot baseball at South Elementary school, with our Yankee baseball teammates. 
My condolences go out to his dear sister Lydia, and his two cousins Arson and his sister Suzie.
Rest in Peace Goran.   

Gary is one of the best people I’ve ever known, the world is a worse place for not having him in it.. his big personality and his even bigger heart will never be forgotten..  you will be missed, we will see you again...  Love you Uncle Gary

He is survived by his significant other Donna Palmer and by Brian Salbert. He was the beloved brother of Mirjana Cretkovska, the late Svetlana Ristovski, and Lidija Merkouris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.


He was the loving son of the late Pavle and the late Jelica Ristovski.
