Dear Paul & Family I spoke to Greta's friend Nancy Hayes on sunday 09/13/15 and she explained that she had made plans to attend the funeral on saturday but her ride never showed up as planned. She was quite distraught over this and wanted you all to know that she did try to attend. Greta was a wonderful person i enjoyed talking to her . She has helped me with my children when they were small. She would be out there raking leaves , so i would stop to help her not expecting that she would make me home made bread. She had a sense of humor ,we would  always be laughing together when we ran into each other  . She was the type of person that made you feel like she generally cared about us. She will be and already is missed. I was her neighbor - i was her friend .

With heavy hearts and tears of our humanity we are saddened by the passing of Greta.  The Angels, of course, are rejoicing in her return to her home in Heaven.  God's grace and comfort are unbelievable during a time like this.  We are sure he is carrying Paul and the family and friends.  God continue to Bless you abundantly with all He has to offer.  May He carry you and strengthen you at this time and always.


   I knew Paul and Greta for about 20 years. She was one of the most loving Christian women I have ever met, a true Proverbs 31 woman. Earth's loss is Heavens gain. You will be missed Sister. God speed on your journey home!!

Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss.  Greta was a friend as well as a student of mine in a class I taught for senior citizens for many years.  Greta was always kind and helpful to me and others in the class.  Greta also was a wonderful student--enthusiastic about whatever it was we were doing.  A classroom full of Gretas would be any teacher's delight.  Since the class ended, I've often thought of Greta, especially on cold winter days when I wear the warm red scarf she made for me.  I'm sorry that I will be out-of-town and so will be unable to pay my respects in person.  May happy memories replace the sadness in your hearts. My sincere sympathy in the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She touched many lives and will be sadly missed.  May your memories sustain you in this time of grief.

Greta was first and formost a Sister in Christ to me & all of the Champine Family. She was my deceased mothers close freind, they were co-workers at Lanse Creuse Transportation (school bus drivers). They retired at the same time so we had a double retirement party for them at metro beach. She & her dear husband Paul housed & mentored many young men going thru addiction recovery (including my youngest sibling). The day after my mom passed oct 2014 she showed up with a basket of food to feed an army!  At my mom's memorial/home going she stood with me & my dad to read a poem that spoke of my dad's feelings (but was too emotional to verbally express himself) "The Lord says you shall know them by their fruit" her fruit was plentifull indeed. She lived her life to serve & please the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that when God called her home on sunday that she heard HIM say "well done good and faithfull servant" \o/ In closing, we know  that her husband, children, family & friends will deeply miss her presence in their lives here on earth as we have endured in the passing of my mom Donna (hibbert) Champine ~ but we take great comfort in knowing that they have passed from the flesh world into Heaven and the spiritual world \o/ so this is not a good bye. 73 years ago my family was blessed to have Greta become a member of it. Greta and my grandma Shirley  became best of friends. We were all so blessed to have her in our lives. The fun memories I have of up north listen to her and my grandma do cheers and share memories when they were my age. To the blankets she made for all my kids. I will miss her Christmas cards and her little notes she would write inside for me. Greta was more than my grandmas best friend,she is our family. Thank you Greta for walking into my grandmas life all those years ago. Thank you for loving us all so much. Until we meet again all my love.

On Behalf of the Blankenship family I would like to send our condolences and prayers to the Ritchie family, Greta was my grandmothers (Shirley Mayack's)best friend for over 73 years, and we had the pleasure to see what a true friendship was over those years. Greta will be deeply missed by many, but the memories and times spent with her and my grandmother through out the years will be looked upon with great joy. Rest in peace.

You were my best friend; more like a sister-FAMILY.  Our 73 year friendship  is something to be proud of...not many can say they have been best friends for that long!  We went thru our worst of times and our best of times-together! We watched our families grow and expand; generation after generation.  You showed me what TRUE friendship is.  You will be forever missed; not a day will go by that I won't think of you.  I will miss you so much!  Rest in peace my dear friend.  I love you-until we meet again.
