Helen Groves, age 88, passed away on June 16, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Brian Groves, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Helen was a devoted mother to her children, Brian (Angie) Groves, Tracy Groves, and Karen (Rudolph) Urbanec, and a cherished grandmother to her grandson, Trevor Groves, whom she adored and treasured every moment spent with.
Helen pursued her passion for helping others by earning a degree in speech therapy from Michigan State University in 1958. She went on to dedicate over 20 years of her life as a speech therapist in the Chippewa Valley School District, working with elementary school children and making a lasting impact on many young lives. Helen enjoyed traveling, especially to South Carolina, where she loved visiting the beaches. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, enjoyed reading, singing, watching British television, and staying fit through water aerobics and Tai chi. A proud Spartan, Helen was one of Michigan State University's biggest fan. Helen is survived by her loving children and grandson, and she is preceded in death by her sister, Ina Owen. Her warm spirit, dedication to her family, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial gathering for Helen will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
