Loving husband to Donna Burgess. Beloved father to Kristen and Lindsey Burgess. Herschel was also survived by mother Ann Butala, step-father William LaPeer, siblings: Barbara (Arthur) Onyx, Harold (Peggy) Burgess, Darlene (Thomas) Kropp, Donna (Gerald) Phelps, William (Cindy) LaPeer, Jay (Sue) Butala, Valerie (Randy) Moore, and Raymond Butala and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father Edmond Burgess, step-father Raymond Butala, and siblings Edmond Burgess and Darlene Schaub.
Herschel was a Marine during the Vietnam War 1965-1969 and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was the past Post Commander of the Fraser VFW 6691. He was also a member of VFW Post 7, VFW Post 6691, DAV and Purple Heart.
Visitation Wednesday, February 18 from 2-9 p.m. and a funeral service Thursday, February 19 at 10 a.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield, Clinton Twp.
