

Irene E. Evers age 76 died April 11, 2012. Beloved wife of John. Dear mother of James (Rose), Timothy(Erin) and Robert Evers. Grandmother of two. Sister of Catherine, James and George. Funeral Service 2 pm Saturday at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, 48038. Visitation Saturday 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.
Irene E. Evers was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Irene will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 14, 1935 the daughter of Alfred and Dorothy Starling. Irene grew up in Ferndale, Michigan. Irene was raised with seven siblings. She had five brothers, Dick, Bob, Bill, Jim, and George, and two sisters, Pat and Catherine. Irene was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Irene had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Irene was an active child who took part in basketball. However, to Irene, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed playing basketball.
A typical teenager, Irene had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from St. James in Ferndale in 1953. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. She was a member of the girls basketball team.
On March 19, 1970 Irene exchanged wedding vows with John Evers, they were married by the Justice of the Peace in Royal Oak, Michigan. Empathic and loyal, Irene was committed to making her new family happy.
Irene worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Irene was blessed with three sons, James, Timothy, and Robert. Another blessing for Irene was the gift of two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Alexander.
Fortunately, Irene enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Irene worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was a secretary/records clerk for Ferndale Adult Education. Irene always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Irene retired in June 1997.
Irene enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were crafts, sewing, and puzzles. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Irene found pleasure in sports. In high school, Irene played basketball. Irene was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so.
Irene’s faith was important to her. She was a member of St. James in Ferndale.
Irene passed away on April 11, 2012 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. She is survived by her husband John, sons, Jim (Rose) Evers, Tim (Erin) Evers, and Rob Evers; grandchildren Elizabeth and Alexander; brothers Jim and George; and her sister Catherine. Services were held at Resurrection Funeral Home in Clinton Township, Michigan on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
Simply stated, Irene was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Irene leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Irene E. Evers.
