

Jim was a graduate of Roseville’s Eastland High School class of 1940. A veteran of WWII with service including active duty in the Pacific Philippine War Effort honorably discharged as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Jim retired as a sheet metal worker from Local Union #80. He loved to dance to old big band tunes and could cut a mean rug on the dance floor, loved to golf, camp, hunt and fish. Jim was an active member of the VFW, Detroit Sportsman Congress.
James was predeceased by his parents Gilbert “Ted” and Elizabeth (née Gunning) Blauvelt and his sister Evelyn Johnson. Survived by his wife of 67 years Shirley A. (née Windiate); his children Barbara E. (Edward) Hromek, Beverly A. (Christopher) Fletcher, James C. Blauvelt, Jr., Gilbert G. Blauvelt, Michael D. (Deborah) Blauvelt; his in-laws George and JoAnn Windiate and Lida Louise Burin.
Jim was a loving and caring husband, father, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great- grandpa to 3. He was a caring and loving friend to very many and will be sorely missed.
Visitation Monday, September 22, 2014 from 2pm to 9pm with Military Honor rendered at 7 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield, Clinton Township, Michigan
Funeral Mass Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church 41300 Romeo Plank, Clinton Township, Michigan at 11am with an Instate at 10:30am.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
