James was born February 11, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Mary Leona (nee Murphy) Kassin and Richard John Kassin. James is survived by his wife Susan (nee Fordyce) Kassin, brother Jerry (Linda) Kassin, and children Laura McCann, James (Tina) Kassin, Ben Robinson, Mary Kassin and Omar Garcia. James leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Kara, Aaron, Stephani, Luke, Colin, Ethan, Alysse and Nathan.
James worked with his son at A&B Motors and had a love for old cars. James was also a fan of watching the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed camping and was actively involved in Bethany Baptist Church.
