James D. Kilcher, of Roseville, Michigan, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Clinton Township, Michigan, at the age of 75. Born on October 8, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Peter Adam Kilcher and Juanita Madeline Ann Elizabeth Sackett Kilcher, James was one of seven children. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Kilcher, and his brother, Richard Kilcher, and is survived by his sisters, Joan Walmsley of Clinton Township, Susan Reiter (the late Richard Jr. and Edward) of Dawsonville, GA, Mary Jo Grabowski (Mark) of Cumming, GA, and his brother John Kilcher (Deborah).
James is also survived by his loving children, son James Kilcher Jr. and daughter Marguerite Brown (Michael), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Gina, Katelyn, the late Carlos, Nathan, and Brittany. He leaves behind 27 nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will remember him for his warmth, generosity, and infectious laughter.
A dedicated and hardworking man, James retired from Clintondale Community Schools, where he served as a custodian. His work ethic was matched only by his passion for the things that brought him joy in life, such as his love for Corvettes, Hot Wheels, and his unwavering loyalty to his beloved Michigan Wolverines ("Go Blue!").
James had an enormous heart, and his love for his family was boundless. He was especially close to his children and grandchildren, often spending time with them and creating lasting memories. His kindness and generosity touched everyone he met, and his famous saying, "FTDS!" will forever remain a reminder of his unique spirit.
He will be remembered not only for his passions but also for his ability to bring joy and laughter into the lives of those around him. James had a contagious laugh that could light up any room, and his genuine, loving nature made him a friend to all.
A Funeral Mass for James will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 9:30am at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes Road in Sterling Heights.
