Joan was born in Detroit and married her husband Bob Kulka at St. Stanislaus Church on September 5, 1942. She worked in a factory during WW II to support the war effort while her husband Bob served in the US Army for the duration of the war.
When Bob returned from the war they began their family and raised four sons. Joan and Bob created a solid Catholic family environment. Although challenged at times by the “high-energy” level of her four sons, Joan managed to keep control of the household with a strong will, a strong right hand and the ever-threatening words…”wait until your father gets home”.
Joan was the ultimate home maker. She cooked and cleaned and cared for her husband Bob and her sons with tireless effort. If there’s a Doctorate in homemaking, Joan deserves it. She was the glue that held the family together.
What were her greatest achievements? Look at the list above. Without her, Bob, Paul, Mike and Mark, the 11 grandchildren and 11 precious great grandchildren would not be here today. She gave the gift of life. What greater gift could she have given?
