Johann's early life was shaped by his education at a trade school, where he trained as a Tool and Die apprentice. Following this apprenticeship, Johann worked as a Tool and Die maker, a career he pursued until his retirement in 1997.
In 1954, Johann enlisted in the navy and served with distinction on a submarine during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he continued his commitment to his country by serving in the Navy Reserves for 28 years.
In 1968, Johann married Marianne at the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, marking the beginning of a cherished union.
Johann had a profound love for hunting, especially big game hunting, which took him to many countries around the world.
His community involvement was extensive and included membership in St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Mack Ave in St Clair Shores, as well as affiliations with the VFW, Wolverine Base, U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc., NRA, DASV, Michigan United Conservation Club, Safari Club International - Flint, German American Cultural Center, the GBU Saxonia-Rheingold Choir, and the Carpathia Choir.
Johann is survived by his wife, Marianne Krenzer of Eastpointe; children: Matthias Krenzer of Eastpointe, Sieglinde (Vincenzo) Lico of Macomb, Wolfgang (Heidi) Krenzer of Findlay, Ohio, Ursula (Jeff) Lundberg of Grosse Pointe, and Annette (Todd) Fischer of Detroit; and grandchildren: Alec Krenzer, Katherine, Anneka, Emmaline Krenzer, Elise Torp, Kristen, Allison, and Erika Berger.
Johann is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Anthony and Louis.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 12pm-8pm at Kaul Funeral Home - 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48035. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 11am, with a one hour gathering prior at 10am, at Kaul Funeral Home. Johann will be laid to rest with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery - 18201 Clinton River Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48038 following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the German American Cultural Center in memory of Johann.
