Josephine Vitale, age 102, passed peacefully on October 18, 2014 of natural causes. She was born in Chinatown in lower Manhattan. Loving mother of Joanne Hume Corso, and Virginia (Gary) Gilbert. Dearest grandmother of Nancy (Mark) Cardella, James Hume, Jennifer Barshaw, David (Wendy) Codd, Susan (Sean) Tower, and Greg Gilbert. Dear great-grandmother of Emily Cardella, Alexandra Barshaw, Jack Barshaw, Lauren Cardella, Maggie, Dennis, Kevin, and Shannon Tower. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Frank and her son-in-law Jack Corso. She was an active church member of Our Lady of Angels Parish and on the committee for the Rosary Society, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York. She was an avid bingo winner and enjoyed cooking and traveling. A private burial service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery in New York, later this year.
