Judy Ann (Iwig) Teller passed away on February 3, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital on May 20, 1943 to M. Jeanette (Bayless) and Earl Eugene Iwig. She grew up on the eastside of Detroit, went to Goodale Elementary School and Denby High School. She worked at Kolly Drugs from 1957 to 1961. After graduating high school she went to Carnegie Institute in Detroit and became a medical assistant. She worked as an assistant pharmacist at Bangs Prescriptions in Detroit from 1962 to 1978. She married Frank John Teller on September 18, 1961 and they had two sons, Keith Joseph and Kurt Joseph.
In 1978 she went back to school for computers and took a job at Kmart headquarters as a programmer where she stayed for four years. From there she went to Federal Mogul Corporation and moved up the ranks over her 20 years of employment to be a senior systems analyst/manager. During that time she went back to school and got her associates degree in business management and was five classes away from getting her bachelors when Frank became ill, and she stopped pursuing that degree. She retired in 2001, but was a regular volunteer at Cross Lutheran Church in the office and took a job in 2011 at Bethany Lutheran in Roseville as their office secretary.
Family and friends were the most important part of Judy’s life and she loved to spend time with her sons Kurt and his wife Diane and Keith and his wife Emma. Her grandchildren Kevin (Eliza), Kyle (Miranda), Mia, Megan (Ryan), Justin (Gina) and her great grandson Derek. Her hobbies included reading, watching movies, spending time with friends, singing in the choir at Cross Lutheran, traveling, and keeping her African violets alive and thriving. She was preceded in death by her parents, father Earl in June of 1957, and mother, Jeanette in October of 1989, and her husband, Frank, who passed away on November 16, 2001.
In honor of Judy's vibrant spirit, the family kindly request visitors to wear purple, her favorite color, as they celebrate her like and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
Visitation for Judy will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road in Clinton Township. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Cross Lutheran Church, 35851 Utica Road in Clinton Township. Friends may visit the church beginning at 10:00 am.
