

Mrs. Julia M. Benfant, age 83 passed away August 13, 2010 in Washington Township. She was born August 27, 1926 in Detroit. Relatives said her family was her life. She is survived by her children Alan ( Toni), Sandy (Mike) Bradley, Robin (Dan) Mullen, and Wayne (Lynn); 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday 2-8:00PM, with a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00AM at Resurrection Funeral Home 40800 Hayes, Clinton Twp., MI. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
Mrs. Julia M. Benfant was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew her. She was also a woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Julia was born at home in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of Julien and Marie Crombez.
Julia was raised with one brother, Alex. Julia was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her brother. She and Alex experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
On August 26, 1947 Julia married Vincent Benfant in Detroit, Michigan. Julia worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Julia was blessed with four children, two sons, Al and Wayne, and two daughters, Sandy and Robin. Another blessing for Julia was the gift of thirty-two granchildren, Michelle, Kristine, Tony, Danyelle, Troy, Angelina, Maria, Jodi, Jaymie, Tina, Emma, Cooper, Ethan, Jacob, Shelby, Alex, Sara, Anthony, Andrew, Sophia, Christopher, Danny, Katie, Jenelle, Kristine, Cody, Carter, DeeJayy, Vincent, Brocklynn, and Morgan. Julia enjoyed being a mother and homemaker.
Julia found pleasure in sports. Julia was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were Detroit Tiger baseball.
Julia enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included up north with family.
Julia was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Mugsy, a Pug. They were best friends for thirteen years.
Julia passed away on August 13, 2010 at home in Washington Township, Michigan. Julia fought a brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her children Alan (Toni), Sandy (Mike) Bradley, Robin (Dan) Mullen, and Wayne (Lynn); sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren. Services were held at Resurrection Funeral Home. Julia was laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
Simply stated, Julia was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Julia leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mrs. Julia M. Benfant.
