Karen Marie Krajewski, lovingly referred to as “Gram,” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 29, 2026 at age 87. She was a resident of Clinton Township in her retirement and formerly a longtime resident of Warren.
Karen was born on June 28, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Russel and Dorothy Simon. She was raised in Detroit, where she attended Assumption Grotto Grade School before graduating from Nativity High School. Her Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout her life and was reflected in the compassion, kindness, and generosity she shared with others.
Following high school, Karen enjoyed a long and dedicated career as an administrative assistant in an ophthalmology office, where she worked until her retirement.
On May 6, 1961, Karen married the love of her life, William Krajewski, at Assumption Grotto Church. Together they built a loving home in Warren, where they raised their family and shared many wonderful years together until William’s passing on December 31, 2015.
Karen found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching the freighters travel across Lake St. Clair and especially enjoyed visiting Sault Ste. Marie, where she and her family made many cherished trips. She was an avid sports fan who especially loved hockey and faithfully cheered on the Detroit Red Wings. Her passion for the sport even took her on a memorable Canadian hockey tour, visiting cities including Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Montreal.
During her retirement, Karen generously volunteered at Ascension St. John Hospital in Warren, bringing her beloved dogs to visit patients and brighten their days. She also devoted herself to her parish community as a longtime member of St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, where she participated in the Women’s Group and faithfully attended Wednesday Bible study.
Above all else, Karen treasured her family. Her greatest pride and most important role was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a beautiful soul whose warmth, kindness, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel loved. She never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Though known for her gentle heart, those who loved her will also fondly remember her playful sass and wonderful sense of humor.
Karen is survived by her loving children, Thomas (Nancy) Krajewski and Mary (James) Jonas; her cherished grandchildren, Jill (Chad) Trombley, Mike (Ashlee) Krajewski, T.J. (Nichole) Krajewski, Emily Krajewski, Jackson Jonas, and Sophia Krajewski; and her adored great-grandchildren, Grace, Madison, Max, Elle, Easton, Cole, Amelia, and Stephen. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Sharon Simon, O.P., and Bob Simon, along with many treasured nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Krajewski; her children, Billy Krajewski, Ronald Krajewski, and Sharon Shipan; and her sister-in-law, Fran Simon.
