Laurie Ellen Evans peacefully passed away at her home in her sleep on Monday, 26 October 2026. Laurie was born 28 February 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of Ursula (née Fangman) and Wilbur Evans. She graduated from Greenhills High School, Greenhills, Ohio in 1964. She continued her education at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. Laurie received her Master’s degree in Mathematics.
She taught at Our Lady of Angels Catholic School in Cincinnati before moving to Michigan, where she taught at Mount Clemens High School for at least 25 years. She respected the students and referred to them as the children. She took great pride in educating the children that she taught and helped in many ways.
Laurie was a beloved friend. She enjoyed her cats, taking care of her own and tending to many rescue cats, being sure that they were fixed and taken care of. She even built shelters for the outdoor cats. Her cats were her babies.
Laurie was a member and active volunteer with the Crocker House Museum. She served on the Archiving and Research Committee and researched photos and documents to add to the museum’s collection. Her work furthered the museum’s mission to preserve local history.
Laurie was very creative and artistic. She was a member of the museum’s craft group and created many lovely items that were sold in the museum’s giftshop.
Laurie is survived by her daughter Lea Frazier, of Louisiana, her brother David Evans and his wife Donna, from Idaho, her nephew Caleb Evans, niece Angela Evans, and great-nephews, Columweill Evans and Micah Evans. She will be dearly missed by her cats, Sylvester, Hydel, Holly, Gracie, Blue, Freyja, Ida Rose, and Mikey, along with many friends who loved her very much and who will miss her greatly.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Ursula (née Fangman) and Wilbur Evans, and many of her loving animals, both dogs and cats, whom she adored.
As per her wishes, there will be no services.
Remember Laurie as the wonderful, caring, loving friend and person that she was.
