To the Meyer family,

       I was fortunate to meet Larry many years ago when he was with the Wayne county sheriffs office and I was a deputy with Macomb county Sheriffs office. Over the years as we both rose through the ranks we kept in contact and conducted many joint initiatives between our departments from our leadership positions. When Larry was undersheriff Mike Mcabe the undersheriff of Oakland county joined us. Once a month the three of us would meet for lunch usually around dequindre and M59 to share strategy on policing, corrections, and law enforcement best practices.  Larry was the catalyst that kept that relationship going and he referred to us as the three amigos. He was known far and wide and I learned what a force we were representing the Sheriffs office the three largest counties in Michigan.  Always positive and we knew he had our backs. 
       I can’t say enough about what a class act he was and how much he bettered law enforcement in southeastern Michigan.  He is missed by his brothers in Macomb and Oakland. My deepest sympathies are with his family.

Uncle Larry,

You were one of the most intelligent and powerful men I’ve ever known and one of the greatest influences in my life. Your integrity was unmatched, your mind was sharp, and your presence alone could fill a room. People respected you because you earned it, and they trusted you because you deserved it.

As I look back on my law enforcement career, I will always remember how you looked after me, especially during the difficult aftermath of my first in-the-line-of-duty shooting. When I needed strength, guidance, and steady support the most, you were there for me. I was blessed to have you in my corner, and I will never forget it.

My life took the path it did because of you. I wouldn’t be where I am without you, period. Thank you for believing in me, standing behind me, and opening doors that changed my future forever. You didn’t just help me, you helped shape the man I became, and I will carry what you taught me for the rest of my life. Your guidance, your love, and your legacy live on with me every day.

Rest in peace, Uncle Larry. I love you and I will never forget you.

It is with heavy heart to learn of Larry’s passing!
What an amazing human he was, his dedication to his family and work force left so many of us in awe of him! I personally through his relationship with my sister Sherry had the pleasure of spending so many wonderful moments making memories. He touched our family with love in so many ways and the respect my nephews had for him in their own careers brings me to tears when I listen to how he made such an impact on them.
May Larry forever Rest In Peace . Larry loved our family and we loved him!

Such shocking and sad news hearing of my friend Larry’s passing. My condolences to his wife, and his daughters as well to all his extended family. I have known Larry for over 65 years. We went through grade school, high school and Wayne State together and growing up his family was my second family. He will be greatly missed but  my memories will last forever.

So very sorry for your loss Urszula. I hope that the memories you have shared will be a blessing to you always. Larry would talk to us about how you had first met, and that his life had finally begun when you married. He would light up the room with his smile, and his eyes would twinkle when he talked about you. Honestly, when I first met Larry, he scared me a bit. He was a little intimidating..UNTIL he started talking about you. He would say, "Emily, she saved my life I never thought I could be so loved and be so happy". I know that he was at peace in his final days because he had you.  God Bless

Praying for the family,    Larry was a great boss.  In his brief time as Assistant Chief, i appreciated his willingness to embrace and listen to the leadership teams of the department; while adding his years of experience where needed.    RIP.  You have fought the good fight!

My heart is heavy. I met Larry in 1982. As he was my significant other for 22+ years, we shared a life full of those family dinners, and great iconic movies. God first and many, many a Sunday downtown at St. Mary’s Cathedral. As well, Thursdays in Greek town was a part of who we were Together as a couple and Family with the vibe of Wayne County sheriffs! As well the many restaurant, bar owner friendships We held. 
It was EXCITING to be with him as he evolved throughout the ranks  of not only Wayne County, but throughout our city law enforcement agencies. The sweet family years reside in my heart as I consider his daughters Tracey and Julie to be My ‘universal daughters’ and now as an honorary grandmother.  I am blessed with the family we shared years of fun times.  Family  barbecues were our weekend way of life , Great weekends in Brighton on the lake,   vacationing in Charlevoix together! In all that Larry Endeavored  INTEGRITY was first ! he often stated that he was ‘stainless steel’ ! One of the many reasons I loved him so deeply. My heart is with you all. I will cherish Every memory as we go forward that I can share with the family and his grandchildren, I am beyond blessed to have him in my life and forever in my heart.  The love was and will remain immense……………. I am comforted by the fact that he will join his mother, father and grandmother, Who adored him. As he cherished them.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Wayne County Deputy Larry Meyers. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.

When I began my role at Wayne County as Director of the Alternative Workforce, Larry and the late Sgt. Robert “Bob” Sheldon (former Union President) were my ride-or-die guys. They were the kind of leaders who always did the right thing, always had your back, and somehow still found ways to keep morale high with jolly spirits and wholesome pranks. Their integrity, loyalty, and humor made even the toughest days better. On one of the first days on the job, Bob told me Larry owned a liquor store on Ann Arbor road in Canton . I don't know why but I. believed that for the longest time and Larry would talk about his party store- It was a year until they told me that was a joke.

I was fortunate to see Larry from time to time at HQ after he became Director of Detroit’s Homeland Security, and those moments always brought back fond memories and deep respect for the man he was and the legacy he carried forward.

I take comfort in imagining Bob Sheldon waiting for Larry at the pearly gates, and I hope they’re laughing together, reunited, and watching over all of us just as they always did here. Larry’s impact, friendship, and service will not be forgotten.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Larry's passing. I would like to express my sincere condolences to his wife, children, and every member of his family. I grew up with Larry in Hazel Park, I think we met at 7 or 8 yrs. old.
We were like brothers, as Larry I too am an only child. Our families became friends and for many years would take vacations together. The Meyer family would be at my mom & dads every Christmas Eve. I'll never forget the wonderful times I had with my brother Larry, I will take the memory of those days to my grave.

Dear Meyer Family,
I worked for Director Meyer in Homeland Security & Emergency Management. He was a GREAT leader and EXEMPLARY in managing and motivating his team. He always looked out for us, professionally and personally to ensure that we were okay. I learned so much from him and will truly miss our long conversations. He often told me how proud he was of me and coming from him, it meant the world to me.

I’ve grown to know your family and I’m thankful for you guys to make me feel like a part of your family! I got to know your dad from a lot of family events! A family man, good listener, funny, excellent taste in movies and music, but mostly, we were all safer because of his career choice of law enforcement. He will be missed. He was a great man. Sincere condolences.

Sincere condolences to the family and to Larry’s friends. Although I didn’t know Larry well, I certainly met him in the late 70s when I married into the family. He was a strong, charismatic individual. Gone too soon; he will surely be missed.

Larry dedicated his life to protecting our community.  He was  a true  public servant and a very dear friend.  He and his family are in our prayers. Rest in peace my friend.
