OBITUARY

Margaret Elizabeth Orr

October 29, 1929March 14, 2020

Margaret E. Orr, age 90, passed away March 14, in Mt. Clemens. She was born October 29, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to the late Andrew H. N. & Annie (Smith) Anderson.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grand-mother, in addition to working full-time as a registered nurse. She was a gentle, kind woman with a good sense of humor and an incredible work ethic. She looked back fondly on her life with her husband Bob while she still could and frequently stated “We laughed a lot”. They were married October 17, 1953 in Flint, Michigan. After raising their five children they were able to enjoy time together as empty-nesters and snow birds in Florida, where she could also indulge her life-long love of swimming. When Bob became ill, she was his tireless care-taker and missed him terribly after he died. Our memories are full of a loving home that included Sunday afternoons with Mom cooking in the kitchen and Dad in the family room, both whistling, humming or singing along with hymns playing in the background. Even through her journey with dementia at the end of her life, her sweetness and sense of humor continued. In her periods of clarity, she expressed gratitude. She loved her grandchildren and lit up when they came to visit, even when she did not always remember their parents. She nursed bunnies and birds and dogs we surprised her with in her home. She taught her children to love God and each other. She supported, encouraged and taught us about her faith through her example. To quote Becky Kelly’s book……. “My mother gave me the moon ……. the stars……. her time and attention….. and all the love her heart could hold.” And then she turned around and gave the same to our children.

We loved her a bushel and a peck, and always will.

Margaret is survived by her children, Cynthia Jeffrey, Gary (Glenna) Orr, Brian (Dana) Orr, Kathleen (David Touchton) Orr, Bonnie Orr; grandchildren, Billy (Morgan) Orr, Alec Orr, Candace (Mike) Ferreira, Megan Orr, Ryan Orr, Trevor Touchton, Riley Touchton; great-grandchildren, Turner Orr, Gavin Sophie and Lucas Ferreira; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; sisters, Martha Ann Anderson, Jean Anderson, a nephew, Jeff Anderson; and sister-in-law Peggy Anderson.

Margaret will be entombed at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan. The family welcomes donations to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation (https://www.alzinfo.org/) as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers.

I used to be Margaret's in-home caregiver for couple years. She's such a nice, sweet lady. Very gentle and very polite, I never had a hard time taking care of her when she was alive. We like doing chores together around the house, watering her plants and sharing some good stories. She is one of kind, you'll be missed Margaret and you'll always in my heart. May you rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss, Cindy & all you kids. Trust The Lord will be close to all of you that are Believers!

Memories of Margaret; she loved Dr.Kovorking's paintings. She was a friend of my mother's and became even better friends, after I married your Uncle. They chatted often, covering days in the Plymouth Brethren and your Uncle & me.

She wrote long letters to our daughter. Came to visit us in Shawnee KS.
Can't say enough.
