Marilyn was joined in marriage with her dear, late husband, Joseph Anthony Meinhard, on June 13, 1953. As loving parents, they raised six children together: David Joseph, Melinda Sue, Renee Louise, Andrew Phillip, Marlene Ruth, and Daniel Eric.
Marilyn’s great accomplishment was learning to fly. She received her pilot’s license in August of 1950 at the young age of 16, and her Pilot’s Wings in July of 1951. She had many other interests throughout her life: pets, nature, sports, music, Wing Scouts, square dancing, choir, camping, art, and taking pictures of her family.
Marilyn was a charter member of several churches. She was well-loved by many and known for her kindness and her generous spirit. Her faith in God was constant and strong, and it gave her great peace in her final days.
One of Marilyn’s greatest and proudest achievements was the writing of her soon-to-be-published memoir, “I Want to Fly.”
