He was born October 6, 1946 in Curacao, Dutch West Indies to Amna and Howard. They eventually made a home in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Mark was a thoughtful, quiet and likeable curly haired kid who played little league baseball and rode his bike all over the place. He attended Clinton Valley Schools and was a 1964 graduate of Mt. Clemens High School. During his college years, the Vietnam War had begun and Mark was drafted into the United States Army “Blackhawks” and served as a Specialist 5 helicopter repair technician. After his tour, he returned and finished his Bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University. Mark had been employed by Keywell as a computer programmer since December of 1977.
Mark loved sailing, reading, and rock and roll. There wasn’t a person he wouldn’t help in one way or another if he could. His kindness and presence will be greatly missed.
He is remembered with love by his children Lydia (Andrew) Rener and Andrew Shelley, former spouse Kathy, step-daughter Jennifer Stowell, his sister Elizabeth Friedberg, nephew Dan (Nina) Miller, niece Stephanie (Michael) Francis, grandnieces Sephora, Ellie and Gracie, grandnephew Ever, and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Amna Shelley and sister Janet Shelley, all of Clinton Township.
