She is survived by 20 nieces and nephews; 41 great nieces/nephews, 38 great great nieces/nephews, and 1 great great great niece; and 15 Godchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her four sisters Rose Esse, Ida A. Esse, Ollie Abdalla, and Shirley Belcovski.
Mary was a trailblazer in the advancement of women in the banking industry including her appointment as the first woman president of the American Institute of Banking. She has also been recognized for her many charitable efforts to the Goodfellows organization and for the production and contribution of thousands of clothing items for Little Dresses for Africa. Mary, who was a world traveler, was beloved by many as a role model, mentor, and friend. She will also be missed by the residents and staff of Pine Ridge of Garfield in Clinton Township.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd., Clinton Township.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m. (instate 10:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.
